Tweep or Twit??

by Adam Bean on July 13, 2010

The biggest problem most people face when starting out on Twitter is figuring out who to follow. Most people have no idea how to work out exactly who they should be following, so they follow all and sundry trying to make sense of  it all.

Unfortunately what happens is they end up following a large number of Twits, and this I believe the cause of many people giving up on Twitter prematurely and saying it is a complete waste of time.

Now let me give you Beanies technical explanation of a Twit, and explain to you exactly how Twits will make using Twitter an unpleasant experience for you.

Most Twits have their Twitter account set up to be fully automated meaning that they aren’t on Twitter themselves. It is just their account pumping out links 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So by following these Twits you are going to be bombarded with the same Tweets over and over again!!

Twitter as you will no doubt have heard me mention before is a real time interaction tool, and you will see the greatest benefit for your business when you use Twitter this way.

Watch this short video below where I will show you a Twits account and compare it with a Tweeps account. By the end of the video you know exactly how you can quickly and easily pick out the tweeps that you want to follow. Simply by reading their feeds.

Profit and Enjoy

Cheers Beanie

Hi Adam
I am a recent follower :). I have enjoyed reading this post and listening to the video. I already follow Michael and we met via #fb first. He is as you say a great guy and I enjoy his tweets. so he is not a twit then! thanks for the info on this. yeah I have noticed a load of folks who do that…I usually just block them if their content is of no interest to me. I do of course pre-set a lot of my tweets esp on my business account, coz there is so much to share and I cant sit at my computer 24 hours a day (only 20 hours a day 😉 ) But you are right and the message is good. thanks. I always enjoy reading other peoples perspectives on twitter and usually learn something new. Have a great weekend and I look forward to more interesting article

Hey Michael
Just found the video comments plugin, it works a treat. You are spot on about Twitter being amazing and targeting a Niche with it. Now we just have to get your blog up and running!!!
