Please don’t tell the Blues about this!

It’s that time of year again! Well it is if you are a rugby league fan in Australia.

State of origin!!

Now if you don’t know what I am talking about or have no interest in football, stay with me because there was a very important small business marketing lesson to come out of the first game.

For all of this to make sense I have to fill you in on how things have unfolded in the last five series.

Queensland have completely dominated state of origin for the last five years, and the start of the first  match last week was no exception. Queensland threw everything they had at NSW, and should have been about 20 points in front at half time.

But NSW were in survival mode and managed to hang on grimly and keep themselves in the game.

About ten minutes from full time NSW hit the lead for the first time in the game, much to my dismay. But Queensland weren’t in survival mode like NSW, they were in we came here to win mode! And that IMHO is what won them the game and has been the main reason behind them dominating for the last five years.

In the video I will explain exactly what the difference is between these to mindset’s and why we need to implement Queensland’s wining mindset in our every day business lives!

So over to you now…. What task/action are you going to focus on this week that is going to put in in a position to win, instead of just surviving? Please share it in the comments below so that we can track each others progress.

Cheers Beanie

It’s easy to get stuck in the “survival” mode and forget that we should be playing to win. Thanks for a great reminder that the extra “play to win” mentality is what determines success at the end of the game.
